Rose Tomasulo-Diamond

Rose Tomasulo-Diamond is an abstract painter living and working in NYC. An architect and former educator, over the past decade, she has turned her focus full-time to painting.  primarily with oil paint on canvas, watercolor paint on paper, and on occasion, acrylics, in her studio.

Rose holds a MS in Special Education, 1972,  and earned a B.Arch in 1986, attending evening classes at CCNY while teaching.  Over a 30+ year period in the public sector, she led planning and design departments for NYC public schools, and Miami-Dade County public schools, with capital budgets in excess of $4B.

In the private sector, she was a partner and ultimately, President of Cooper Robertson and Partners, retiring in 2014, continuing work as a consultant to dozens of school districts nationally. In 2007, she was awarded the National Woman in Construction award, in conjunction with Miami declaring 10/16/2007 as Rose Diamond Day in recognition of her vast school design and construction expansion program.

Now, a painter, Rose’s architectural sensibilities remain a force in her work. Forms, hard and soft edges, scale, movement, light, and color are now presented in a zero-gravity environment- no longer constrained by the physically functional requirements of architectural design.

Her work also reflects qualities gleaned from her teaching career. Human qualities of the need for connection, empathy, hope, desire, positivity and humor. Her paintings often have an understated quality, a softness and ethereal nature, reminiscent of the unfiltered sheer goodness and innocence of her former students. Humility abounds!
